GOLDEN AWARD

IN HONOUR OF GRIFFIN BELL

MEET GRIFFIN #72

WEST END WOLVERINE

The Golden Award was created in honour of Griffin Bell, a young West End Wolverine who passed away in March of 2024 following a long battle with cancer.

Griff was a huge hockey fan. He cheered on the Ottawa Senators and his favourite defenseman Thomas Chabot. During the hockey season, Griff could be seen wearing his #72 Timbits jersey at Barbara Ann Scott and Dulude arenas. His bright smile, positive attitude and perseverance will always be remembered. Over the years, Griff and his family and supporters have helped raise over $600,000 for childhood cancer research and awareness.

This Golden Award recognizes a WEHL team that demonstrates exceptional commitment to community service and has made a positive impact both on and off the ice. It celebrates teams who go beyond the rink to engage in initiatives that promote team spirit, inclusivity, and support for local causes.

The name of the winning team will be added to the Golden Award plaque that is on display at Dulude Arena.
